Whether it's a Worcester pressure drop, a Vaillant F-code, an Ideal flame fault, or an older Baxi making a noise it never used to: I diagnose and repair every major brand across Southampton, with the common parts on the van for a same-visit fix.
The most obvious sign of a full breakdown or a failed diverter valve. Often a same-visit fix.
Scale build-up or a tired pump. The photo on the left shows exactly what causes it.
Usually a small system leak or a failed expansion vessel, both common in Southampton's hard-water area and fixable in one visit.
On older boilers this is usually a broken thermocouple or a draught problem. Quick to diagnose.
Heating works but no hot water, or the other way round? Nine times out of ten it's this.

“Wes diagnosed and then replaced a faulty valve on my heating system that was leaking. Excellent, reliable and prompt. Finding a local, knowledgeable and dependable heating engineer is something worth knowing about.”
“Turned up on time and quickly diagnosed and repaired our boiler, and even fixed a separate issue with our water tank, for a very reasonable charge too. Highly recommended.”
“We have used Wes on more than one occasion and he has always provided a prompt, efficient service. When Wes says he has fixed a problem, it stays fixed.”

Most boiler repairs land between £100 and £280, including parts and labour. The £100 covers the first hour, which is the diagnostic, that's enough time to fix many faults outright. Bigger jobs like a PCB replacement run £250–£350.
Usually yes if the boiler is under twelve years old and the repair cost is below a third of the price of a new one. Once you're past that, the maths starts favouring replacement, especially if the boiler has had multiple faults in a year.
A modern combi boiler typically lasts twelve to fifteen years with annual servicing. Older system or back boilers can run longer, but parts get harder to find and efficiency drops off.
The PCB, the control board, at £250–£350 fitted. Heat exchangers and gas valves are the next tier down, typically £200–£300.
Banging or kettling noises, needing to re-pressurise more than once a month, a yellow rather than blue flame, error codes that keep coming back, or hot water that runs cold mid-shower. Any of those is worth a diagnostic before it gets worse.
